ls /dev/cu.* Working on the Mac is totally possible in AP but if you intend to push the hobby toward more and more complexity and are eventually going to want everything automated you may want to work with a Windows machine. Moving from DSLR’s toward mono CCD’s will influence this as well. Whether or not you want to make the switch on either is the question. If not, feel free to PM me for more Mac advice. I am also a MacBook Pro user and beat my head against the wall trying to get it to work in the field, and I did make it work...eventually. However, there is another consideration that you should make -- You said you’re a college student. My guess is that you are very likely VERY dependent on having that MacBook for your school work. A computer used for image acquisition is subjected to lots of moisture, dust, temperature variation and various other "mis-treatments" in the course of this hobby. I eventually realized that I didn’t want the computer that I depended on for my work ( and for which I paid $2,500+ for) sitting outside overnight time and time again, when a lousy $225 Windows laptop would do the job. (and for the most part, do the job better, because of the availability of software support, AND the support of people around here who know the Windows platform inside and out.) • Intelligent automatic unidirectional and manual unidirectional Dec guiding modes Straightforward solution for controlling and calibrating telescope mounts You have to be patient as they are being developed and some are in the beta stage. At this stage, as I mentioned above I managed to sort out some issues while I am testing others. I think the key issue is connecting the USB cables directly to your Mac. Using a USB hub gave me issues. I am testing several setups and at the moment I managed to get some working.

Most macOS applications downloaded from outside the store come inside a DMG file. Double-click the DMG file to open it, and you’ll see a Finder window. Often these will include the application itself, some form of arrow, and a shortcut to the Applications folder.
